BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University football returned to the practice field on Tuesday, energized after their 29-0 defeat over Arkansas State. The Halloween practice session was the first opportunity for the Owls to erase the ghosts of last year's 35-14 loss to Middle Tennessee State (5-3, 4-0).
"It's going to be a dog fight in Murfreesboro," said Fullback Aaron Sanchez. "We're going to have to play all four quarters to have a chance out there."
The afternoon began with various unit drills. The offense touched upon box power and option-routes, while the defense focused on the two-man sled and block reaction screens.
In seven-on-sevens, Sean Clayton found Casey McGahee on the right-sideline for a 12-yard completion. Kris Bartels brought intensity on the defensive side of the ball, getting his hand into multiple pass-breakups.
In team 11-on 11's, Corey Small continued his three interception performance from this weekend with another pick. B.J. Manley looked strong, taking a give off left tackle for a 15-yard gain.
FAU is back on the practice field Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
