BOCA RATON, FL - This Tuesday afternoon Florida Atlantic University Football held its last full practice before Thursday's home opener at 7 p.m. The Owls are set to meet with D1-AA Southern Utah at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
"The fans are going to see smash-mouth football on Thursday," said Nello Faulk. "We are going to play physical Owl's football."
On the field, the team ran practice without pads. The session began with short-yardage plays, followed by situationals and the two-minute drill. The day ended with kick-off and punt returns as well as blocks.
Southern Utah (3-3) is in the Great West conference. They lost their last contest to McNeese State, 30-27. The Thunderbirds are lead by quarterback Wes Marshall, who has 13 touchdowns and 1094 yards on the season. Joey Hew Len is the top receiver with 328 yards and seven touchdowns. DJ Senter has 34 tackles to lead the Southern Utah defense.
The game is not telecast, but fans can tune in on the radio at WNJA 640 AM or WPSL 1590 AM to hear the game live.
On Friday the Owls will be holding a closed practice session.

PEP RALLY
Join head coach Howard Schnellenberger, members of the football team and the cheer and dance teams on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at 11 a.m. for the first 2006 football pep rally. The rally will take place on the lawn in front of the FAU Bookstore on the Boca Raton campus and will feature the FAU marching band and an appearance by Owsley, the FAU Owl.
Stop by the "Make a Hit CD" booth. Join 93 Rock, brought to you by Pepsi, broadcasting live from the rally. Arrive early for free food and a t-shirt to the first 100 fans.
