Coral Gables, FL - Day two is in the books for Florida Atlantic University's men's tennis team and it was another day with a strong performance by Mauricio Paiz, who captured both his singles match and teamed with Gianfranco Dossena to win at no. 2 doubles. Saturday's matches featured the Owls against players from Georgia Southern University.
David Demers was victorious at no. 2 singes with a victory over Philip Prins in two sets, 6-2, 6-2. Paiz split the first two sets and saw his opponent Daniel Harden retired down 3-0 in the third. Doubles play was much better for the Owls with victories at both the no. 2 and no. 3 doubles positions.
""I didn't think we played very well today but, we did compete hard from beginning to end," head coach David Komie said. "Today was a good barometer to see where we are and what we need to work on."
FAU will return to Coral Gables for a Sunday match-up against players from the University of Miami. Play is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. Hurricane Invitational
