Florida Atlantic University's men's tennis team will open the 2005-2006 season this weekend when the squad participates in the University of Miami Invitational in Coral Gables. The schedule features 11 home matches and two fall tournaments.

Following that, FAU will participate in the ITA Southeast Regional Championship in Memphis, TN, Oct. 13-16. The ITA will showcase individual talent and will be important for pre-season 2006 rankings.
"I believe you build a program by playing the toughest schedule you can," said head coach David Komie. "This schedule is an important first step in that direction."
FAU will begin 2006 dual match play with stops at Florida State, South Alabama, Troy and conference member Jacksonville. The team will then begin a stretch where 11 of 12 matches will be played at home. The only interruption will be a showdown with East Tennessee State which will be played in Orlando.
The home schedule will feature match-ups with Boston University, Temple, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia Southern and Tennessee. All home matches will be played at Patch Reef Park, a local tennis facility that features 17-lighted courts, including a stadium court.
The team will then begin its final tune-up for the A-Sun Championship with a match at Bethune-Cookman, Mercer and Georgia State.
FAU will then vie for a return trip to the NCAA Tournament when it participates in the Atlantic Sun Championship, April 12-15.
