Owls to Face Gators in 2007 and 2011

BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University has an agreement for two football games with the University of Florida, announced FAU Athletics Director Craig Angelos.
The first is tentatively scheduled for November 17, 2007, while the second is scheduled for September 3, 2011.
"I wanted to thank Jeremy Foley for giving us the opportunity to grow our program by playing a great in-state powerhouse such as Florida," said Angelos. "It really adds credibility to our young program."
The 2007 game will mark the first time FAU head coach Howard Schnellenberger has squared off against the Gators since he took his Louisville team to Gainesville in October 1992. Prior to his trip with the Cardinals, Schnellenberger and the University of Miami faced the Gators five times, three in Gainesville.
When FAU takes to the field at UF it will mark the seventh Florida school the Owls have faced since 2001. Currently, FAU is 2-1 against Bethune-Cookman, 1-0 against Edward Waters, 1-0 at Florida A&M, 3-0 against Florida International, 1-0 against Jacksonville, and has suffered a loss against UCF and USF.
"We are very appreciative of Florida and are indebted to them for giving us the opportunity to play the state's flagship program," said head coach Howard Schnellenberger. "Even though it is a real stretch to even consider us with the Gators at this juncture, we trust we will make enough progresses to be competitive with them. We know it will be good for Florida Atlantic along with football in the state."
