Baseball Advances to Coral Gables Regional

Florida Atlantic University's baseball team will be making a familiar trek down Interstate 95 to Coral Gables this weekend when it travels to the University of Miami for the NCAA Regional. FAU earned an at-large bid after advancing to the championship game of the Atlantic Sun Tournament and finishing with a 36-22 record.
No. 3 FAU will face no. 2 Mississippi State in the first round of the tournament on Friday at 3 pm at Mark Light Stadium. The Bulldogs (40-20) earned an automatic bid after they won the SEC Tournament with a win over Ole Miss.
Also earning an at-large bid, no. 1 Miami (38-17-2) will host no. 4 Virginia Commonwealth (33-20) at 7 pm on Friday. Miami has lost its last six games and did not advance past the second round of the ACC Tournament, while VCU won the Colonial Athletic Association for the third time in the past four seasons.
For the past three seasons FAU has been award a seed in the Coral Gables Regional and five out of the schools six NCAA appearances have been at Miami. Florida Atlantic won its first Regional in 2002 after defeating Alabama in the Tuscaloosa Regional.

The University of Miami and the ticket office are closed for Memorial Day but normal ticket office hours will resume on Tuesday, May 31. The office is open from 9 am to 5 pm Tuesday through Friday. Call 284-CANES or 1-800-GO-CANES.
All-tournament packages are $45 for general admission and $35 for youths 17 and under and seniors 55 and over. Single day passes for Friday, Saturday and Sunday are $15 for adults and $10 for youths and seniors. If necessary, tickets for Monday's game are $10 for adults and $8 for youths and seniors.
