Boca Raton, FL - The Florida Atlantic football team got through another practice relatively unscathed as they began preparations for the Spring Game on Saturday, signifying the end of Spring Drills.
"As we move into the last week of spring practice drills, we know that our opportunities for improvement are waning," head coach Howard Schnellenberger said. "So I thought there was a renewed effort out there today to solidify some of [those] improvements. We look forward to this Saturday where we can get our final exam grade."
The team is scheduled to practice twice more this week, on Wednesday and Friday at 3:30 at the Tom Oxley Fields. The practices are free and open to the public. FAU's spring practice then culminates in the Spring Game, scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, April 23.
The Spring Game will also be an opportunity for Owl fans to purchase old game jerseys, as well as equipment surpluses: warm-ups, sweats and other athletic gear. In addition, fans can purchase 2005 season tickets and the university will host a kids' area with bounce houses.
Notable: Senior defensive back Quincy Skinner looked good in coverage, blanketing his receiver and breaking up a pass on a deep flag route. Sophomore halfback DiIvory Edgecomb has looked better with each practice, and is hitting holes aggressively on a regular basis.
Injuries: Sophomore defensive back Taheem Acevedo, who suffered a dislocated ankle Saturday, had successful surgery today, with a plate being inserted to stabilize it. No new injuries were reported Monday.
