Florida Atlantic University improved to 20-2, 4-0 A-Sun with a 3-0 win over Campbell University on Saturday night at FAU Gym. Kelly Paiva provided FAU with 26 kills, while Campbell's Tabitha Turner added 22 in the 31-29, 30-24, 30-27 Florida Atlantic win.
The Camels jumped out to a 24-19 lead in game one before two Dimitra Samas service aces gave FAU a little momentum. The Owls took a 27-26 lead with Samas service before a Rachel Templin kill ended the run. The score was tied at 29 before a Justine Petry kill and a CU error gave FAU the narrow edge.
The Camels (8-16, 1-5 A-Sun) only managed a .051 hitting percentage in game two with 11 kills in 39 attempts. Campbell held its last lead of the match at 15-14 in game two despite 12 more digs and a block more than Florida Atlantic.
FAU's offense managed a .217 hitting percentage and saw Paiva and Petry finished with 26 and 12 kills to lead the team. Paiva finished with a double-double by adding 10 digs. Samas finished with 11, while Campbell's Holle Cadenhead compiled a match-high 12.
Casey LaRocca finished with 45 assists as the Owls won their 10th straight contest at FAU Gym.
With one more win, FAU will tie its Division I season wins record. The team will get the opportunity when it visits Belmont and Lipscomb on Friday and Saturday. It will be a battle of two unbeaten A-Sun teams when the Owls face Belmont on Friday in Nashville.
