Baseball Hosts Bethune-Cookman, Wednesday 4 pm

No. 25 Florida Atlantic University will meet Bethune-Cookman College for the final time this season 4 pm on Wednesday. The Wildcats visit FAU Stadium with a 22-16 record after winning two conference games at Delaware State this past weekend.
Carlos Avendano is expected to take the mound for B-CC. The 6'2" right-hander has a 5.30 ERA and 2-2 record in five starts. The junior is familiar with A-Sun opponents. He defeated Stetson on March 24 but suffered a loss to UCF on April 6 after only lasting 1 1/3 innings and giving up three runs on one hit and four walks.
Left-hander Jason Costello will start for FAU. The junior has seen two starts this season and both resulted in wins. Costello has a 4.50 ERA and is holding opponents to a .269 batting average.
Two underclassmen lead FAU (28-8) with batting averages over .400. Freshman Mike McBryde and sophomore Tim Mascia hold .426 and .421 averages respectively. Mascia is ranked 31st in Division I in batting average. The team holds a .319 average, which ranks them 30th overall.
Also listed among the NCAA stats, FAU is averaging 8.2 runs per game which is 27th in the nation and 18th in win/loss percentage with a .778 winning percentage.
In the last meeting on February 10, FAU defeated B-CC 9-4 in Daytona Beach. Six players picked up RBI in the game. Alex Fonseca highlighted the afternoon with a career-high three RBI on a bases loaded triple in the ninth to seal the win.
