BOCA RATON, FL. - Florida Atlantic University's football team got down to business on a breezy Tuesday afternoon, beginning its preparations for cross-town rivals Florida International. The Owls worked 21 periods in full pads, the majority against Golden Panther scout teams. The defense had an impressive day with four interceptions and two blocked kicks.
Lawrence Gordon registered the play of the day, intercepting Jared Allen in first team offense versus first team defense 11-on-11 drills. Allen's pass over the middle was tipped into the air by Cameron Rodgers as Gordon stopped, cut back and dove for the ball.
The defense stepped it up in field goal drills, blocking two field goals. On the first block, the defensive line got good penetration while Quincy Skinner ran around the wing blocker, untouched, on the second block.
Anthony Jackson provided some spark to the offense in scout drills as he broke loose, untouched, for 40-yards on a sweep to the left side.
