FAU head coach Howard Schnellenberger
On winning at home
"Conventional wisdoms says it is easier to win at home than on the road. Convention says that but we haven't said it yet. We haven't made that happen yet. If you look it up we have a lot more losses on the road than at home but we have played more games on the road than at home.
"I don't think it has anything to do with anything besides how our team plays. The games we have won we played better than the teams we were playing against and the games we lost we didn't play as well and it just happened that some of them were on the road and some of them were at home. I am not concerned that we are going to have a losing streak at home. I think if we can start winning at home the reason it will help the team is because we will get more people out there to watch us, more enthusiastic people out there and possibly even some fanatical people out there watching us and that would be a real plus for us. Obviously football is a game of emotion and if you can get the emotion from positive feelings of your fans it is better than getting it from hostile feelings of your opponents when you're on the road, but either one can happen. That is the reason our kids were talking about how all of the boos on the road instilled a fire in them and that caused them to become even more into the game on the road than at home."
Junior offensive lineman, Dave Richards
On returning to Lockhart Stadium.
"We knew we had to win on the road and come back home and try to win all of our games at home with a home field advantage."
On the FAU offense
"Right now we are where we want to be but we know we can improve. We have the talent to build off of what we do every week."
Junior defensive lineman, Ramon Rickards
On returning to Lockhart Stadium
"We are happy to be home. Coach Schnellenberger has talked about making [Lockhart Stadium] a tough place to play so that anyone that comes down here thinks they are going to lose. That is what we are trying to establish right now. Last game we were trying to get used to the stadium and it was a little bump in the road but I think we will come out pretty hard this time."
"This is going to be a very good home stretch for us. We believe in ourselves and everyone else believes in us."
Texas State Head Coach Manny Matsakis
On FAU
"I have seen the last couple of games on game tape. Against Illinois State and Youngstown State they handled themselves very well. Winners, guys that are learning how to win every week you see them making some good improvement. I thought they were very well coached. They make a lot of big hits in the kicking game. Their special teams are excellent in regards to their ability to make the big hit, the big play that spurs on the offense or defense to do something right now. I think that is the makeup of a really good football team somewhere in the future."
