Kendrick Alexandre Ribeiro has signed an NLI with Cross Country

BOCA RATON - Kendrick Alexandre Ribeiro has signed a National Letter of Intent to run cross country for Florida Atlantic University, announced Alex Smolka, FAU's Head Cross Country Coach.
"Kendrick is an accomplished runner, who has spent the last two high school seasons in Maine," said Smolka. "His Maine Experience will add the ability to run in the cold and on hills, both necessary for our conference meet. He is also a high school teammate of Matt Mazzola, so the chemistry will be established".
Ribeiro ran for Jupiter High School where he has earned a spot on the 1998-99 "Wall of Fame". He was also named to the 1999 Palm Beach Post Honorable Mention cross country team (1999) served as Palm Beach Garden's High School cross country team captain (1999), lettered in cross country four seasons, out door track three seasons and indoor track one. He is a three-time first team all-conference cross country selectee (1998-2000). Has been named second team all-conference in the 4X800, as a junior and led his 1998 Jupiter cross country team to a conference championship. In 2000, he ran for Falmouth High School which captured the conference, regional and state titles.
Ribeiro, a native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, has held a job since 1997 along with his participation in area benefit road races, volunteering as a firefighter and or EMT, taught a dare class and worked to clean the beach by environmental research. He also finds time to act with the local theater company, while maintaining his academic integrity.
Academically, Ribeiro earned the 1998 United States President's Award for Educational Excellence, the Principal's Academic Award for Excellence (PBGHS 1999-2000), the Order of the Arrow for academic excellence and good citizenship (Jupiter HS 1998-99), the Warrior Pin for maintaining a 3.5 g.p.a. through out the year (Jupiter HS 1998-99), was accepted to the Environmental Research and Field Studies Academy magnet program (Jupiter 1998-99), but moved to the PBGHS pre-medicine magnet program in 1999-00.
Ribeiro will come to FAU as a true freshman.
