Founders of the Inner Circle come in all shapes and sizes, sexes, and religious convictions. Many are graduates of Florida Atlantic University, most are not. All Founders have one thing in common, a deeply-rooted love of their local university and the community it serves. They've watched football at other universities and colleges and recognize that a football program is the only vehicle that can be the magnifying glass to enlarge the vision and many accomplishments of a university.
Some of our Founders make multi-million dollar gifts. Other contributions are fractions of millions, and many gifts are made in the thousands of dollars. Individually, these gifts are important but perhaps not earthshaking. All are crucial, and they will be used wisely. Collectively, they can accomplish almost anything.
Many Founders are interested in the physical plant, the playing fields, and buildings. Some have much greater interest in what takes place on the field. Others are fully committed to scholarships that provide opportunity to talented athletes and keep them in their home state. Several Founders are tuned in to the audio visual support that is essential to game day strategy. Some are engrossed in taping ankles, lifting weights, and building strength. Others Founders focus on where all these things happen and the quality and safety of the fields on which our athletes will practice and play. Usually, a football Founder will find something that appeals to him. Together, we will build our team.
There are many loyal fans whose financial responsibilities do not allow them to participate at the Founder level. These people share our dream of the Big Bad Burly Birds. This swell group of fans has joined together to form our booster organization, The Owl Fund. The very same attributes that distinguish the Founders are also present in each of our Owl Fund members.
The enthusiastic members of our Owl Fund form the heart and soul of FAU football. Their own excitement will continue to grow and directly reflect into the enthusiasm of the entire program. The Owl Fund provides funding to all sports including football. Each Owl Fund booster can direct her gifts to the sport of her choice.
These contributions will improve and stabilize each of FAU's 15 individual sports. Through full funding of scholarships and defraying at least part of the overall operating expenses of each sport, Owl Fund members will ensure that we operate at the highest level of efficiency. You can join the Owl Fund for as little as $51 per year, that's $26 if you're an FAU student. You won't be forced to leave the Owl Fund unless you give more than $49,999.99 to football, at which time I have to make you a Founder of the Inner Circle.
The Founders are having fun, and Owl Fund members will have even more fun in their social gatherings that we're planning for Boca Raton. In time, we will meet in Ft. Lauderdale, Palm Beach, Port St. Lucie, Orlando, Tampa, Belle Glade, Ft. Myers, Naples, and even Coral Gables. [E Pluribus Unum]
