Dasha Cherkasov joined the Florida Atlantic University Student-Athlete Center for Academic Excellence staff as an Athletic Academic Counselor in February 2017 and was elevated to Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Development in Fall 2017. She was responsible for providing academic support for the women's basketball, men's and women's swimming and diving, and the women's golf teams. In January of 2020, her work load was shifted away from swimming and she added men's basketball. In addition to her role as an academic counselor, Cherkasov also serves as the co-coordinator for student-athlete life skills development and career services.

Prior to joining FAU, Cherkasov worked as the Associate Director for Student-Athlete Academic Services at Saint Francis University from June 2014 until January 2017. She was responsible for overseeing academic support for men's basketball, football, men's and women's cross country/track & field, women's swimming, softball, men's and women's tennis, and water polo. Her secondary duties involved being a secondary advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and SAMs programs, assisting with career development programs and heading the book loan program. She also implemented the Faculty Athletics Mentor (FAM) program.

Before SFU, Cherkasov worked for two years at Marist College as the Academic Advisement Fellow. She advised football, men's and women's cross country/track & field, men's and women's crew, softball, and men's and women's tennis teams. She also was involved with the Life Skills program, assisted with various workshops, and was heavily involved with the NABC "Stay in to Win" program.

A native of New York, Cherkasov attended Boston College where she received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology, with a minor in General Education. While at Chestnut Hill, she was a member of the Eagles' women's tennis team playing at the first and second singles' positions and at first doubles. She was a team captain her senior season and was a member of the All-ACC Academic Honor Roll in her final three seasons. Cherkasov also represented women's tennis on SAAC. Cherkasov went on to earn her Masters of Science in Education in School Counseling from Fordham University. While at Fordham, Cherkasov interned at New Rochelle High School and Concordia College, working in a variety of counseling capacities.
