Alyssa Warren joined the FAU volleyball coaching staff in the fall of 2016 after having played on the beach volleyball squad during the 2015 season and serving as a volunteer assistant for the 2016 beach season.Â
"Her passion for the game and hunger for knowledge is going to take her far. She comes to us with a very strong background and I'm looking forward to her continued growth."Â
During the 2019 season, Warren helped the Owls extend their home winning streak to 21, the second longest active streak in the nation at the time. Massiel Matos was named first team all-conference, while Sigourney Kame, Sydney Nemtuda and Zuri Smith made the second team. Smith was also named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year. FAU swept Marshall in the first round of the C-USA tournament, its first conference tournament win since 2006. The Owls finished with a winning record for the sixth straight season.
In 2018, she helped the Owls to a perfect 14-0 record at home, extending its school record home winning streak to 15, including a defeat of regular season champion Rice as FAU reached the C-USA Tournament for the fifth year in a row. Additionally, four FAU players were named All Conference USA, Ivone Martinez earned C-USA Setter of the Year and Martinez, Sigourney Kame and Massiel Matos named the AVCA All Region Team.
Warren's experience as a volleyball player includes a brilliant career at Seton Hall University. A four year starter at libero and two-time captain, she was the first player in SHU history and just the fourth ever to be named the Big East Defensive Player of the Year twice. Warren was also a two-time All Big East Conference selection.Â
The only player in school history with more than 2,000 career digs, Warren finished her career with the third highest total in NCAA history. Warren also played with USA Volleyball, as a member of the Junior and Senior A2 teams.Â
In 2015, Warren came to FAU as a member of the beach volleyball team. After starting the year as part of the No. 5 tandem, Warren eventually worked her way up to the No. 2 duo and finished the year with eight dual match wins, helping the team to a 9-6 dual match record, tripling the win total from the previous year, including wins over ninth-ranked Stetson and 14th-ranked Stanford.Â
As a coach, Warren is a Master Camp coach at Sports Performance Volleyball Club, specializing in first contact and defense. As a volunteer assistant for the Sandy Owls, she helped the team to a four-win increase from the previous season and also helped her former partner Delaney Clesen and Gabrielle Dischler earn AVCA Honorable Mention All-American honors.
Warren received her undergraduate degree in Marketing and Sport Management from Seton Hall, with a minor in Graphic Design and received her MBA in Entrepreneurship from FAU.
