Florida Atlantic Sweeps Tulsa

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic volleyball team bounced back in a big way on Sunday, earning a straight-set sweep over the Tulsa Golden Hurricane, 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-17) on Sunday afternoon inside Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Tulsa took an early 8-5 lead to open the match, forcing an early FAU timeout. Following a 14-10 Tulsa advantage, Anna Hartman scored three-straight kills for FAU, battling the Owls back within one at 14-13. Back-to-back Golden Hurricane errors evened the match at 15 apiece. Following a 21-19 Tulsa advantage, the Owls went on a 5-1 run to force a pair of Golden Hurricane timeouts, holding set point at 24-22. Tulsa got one back, but a service error closed out the first set, giving the Owls the 25-23 win.
Tulsa opened the second set with a 13-9 lead, forcing an early Owl timeout. Trailing by four at 17-13, the Owls locked in and dominated the remainder of the set. Five straight Tulsa errors sparked a 12-1 FAU run to close the second set as the Owls claimed the 25-18 win to take a two-set advantage, 2-0.
After battling through a 7-7 tie to open the third, the Owls produced a 7-1 run to take a six-point lead and force nearly back-to-back timeouts from the Golden Hurricane, leading 14-8. The Owls extended their lead to nine, following a pair of kills from Libby Ashline and a pair of Tulsa errors, 22-13. The Golden Hurricane cut the deficit to six, 23-17, but another Golden Hurricane error and a kill from Hartman clinched the straight-set sweep for the Owls, 25-17.

The Owls will head out on their final regular-season road trip next weekend as they visit Tulane on Friday, Nov. 7, before facing Rice in their road finale on Sunday, Nov. 9.

STATS & NOTES
- Hartman led the way for the Owls, recording a match-leading 12 kills, hitting an impressive .571, while Kierstin Bevelle, Kayla Richardson, and Ashline followed just behind, tying for second on the team with eight kills each.
- Emsley Venard dished out a team-best 22 assists against the Golden Hurricane.
- Defensively, Isabelle Northam led the Owls' back row, tying for a match-best 12 digs, while Libby Ashline led the Owls at the net, posting a team-best six blocks in the win.
- As a team, the Owls dominated the Golden Hurricane on the block, 10 to four, in addition to holding advantages in kills (46), hitting percentage (.346), assists (43), and digs (43).
- The win ties the all-time series between Florida Atlantic and Tulsa, 2-2.
