BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic Owls are heading to their final regular-season road trip this weekend, visiting Tulane on Friday, Nov. 7, at 7:30 p.m., and closing out the weekend at Rice on Sunday, Nov. 9, for a 2 p.m. first serve. Fans can catch both matches live on ESPN+.
A LOOK AT THE OWLS
- FAU enters the weekend tied for fourth in the American at 17-8 on the season and 8-4 in league play. The Owls are coming off a split weekend in which they earned a straight-set sweep over Tulsa but fell in four against Wichita State.
- The Owls' offensive leaders are Olivia Hart, Anna Hartman, and Erin Morrissey. Hart boasts a team-best 3.64 kills per set, while Hartman and Morrissey are averaging 2.72 and 2.41 kills per set, respectively.
- Florida Atlantic's assists leaders are Emsley Venard and Victoria Hensley. Venard boasts a team-leading 537 assists, averaging 6.10 per set, while Hensley ranks second on the team with 453 assists, dishing out 5.09 per set.
- The Owls' back row is led by libero Isabelle Northam, boasting a team-best 358 digs, averaging 4.21 per set. Hart ranks second on the team in digs with 256, averaging 2.88 per set.
- At the net, Florida Atlantic's block is led by Maggie Allred. Allred has registered a team-best 99 blocks this season, averaging 1.21 blocks per set.
SCOUTING TULANE
- Tulane heads into this weekend's matchup ranked 12th in the American at 10-13 overall and 2-10 in conference play. The Green Wave are coming off a split weekend in which they earned their second American win of the season against UTSA, 3-2, before falling in four sets to UAB.
- Offensively, the Green Wave are led by Avery Burks, Lauryn Mack, and Ava Derbes. Burks boasts a team-leading 4.19 kills per set. Mack and Derbes follow behind, recording 2.61 and 2.13 kills per set, respectively.
- Zoe Rachow leads the team in assists, dishing out 640 assists this season, averaging 7.80 assists per set.
- Tulane's back row is led by libero Dayla Ortiz, tallying a team-best 336 digs and averaging 3.86 per set this season.
- Sabrina Skyers leads the Green Wave block this season, boasting a team-best 78 blocks and averaging 0.96 blocks per set.
SCOUTING RICE
- Rice currently leads the American at 15-8 overall and 11-1 in league play. The Owls are on an 11-game winning streak after dropping their American opener 3-2 against Temple.
- Offensively, the Owls are led by Taylor Preston, who boasts a team-best 4.25 kills per set. Aaliyah Smith and Lademi Ogunlana rank second and third on the team, recording 2.66 and 2.21 kills per set, respectively.
- Kaia Mateo is Rice's assists leader, dishing out a team-best 496 assists and averaging 8.86 assists per set.
- Defensively, Gaby Mansfield and Darby Harris lead Rice's back row, recording 4.01 and 3.32 digs per set, and Arissa Smith leads the team in blocks, posting 1.10 blocks per set this season.
SERIES HISTORY
- Friday's matchup marks the eighth all-time meeting between Florida Atlantic and Tulane. The Owls are one a two game win streak versus the Green Wave and have won three of the last four matchups. Last season, FAU defeated Tulane in a four-set match on Nov. 17, 2024, in Boca Raton.
- Sunday's contest marks the 14th all-time meeting between FAU and Rice and the eighth meeting in Houston. Rice leads the series 8-5, including a 6-1 record when playing in Houston. The Owls are on a three-game winning streak against Rice, including earning a five-set reverse sweep, 3-2, in the American Conference Tournament semifinals last season on Nov. 23, 2024.
