Gerard Jones: Assistant Cheer Coach
Gerard Jones, the newest member of the Florida Atlantic University cheerleading staff, came to FAU in the summer of 2018 as the Owls assistant cheerleading coach. Jones came to FAU with a wealth of knowledge and experience.
He worked with the National Cheerleaders Association for seven years, where he earned the position of Head Instructor. NCA also awarded him “Most Spirited”, “Most Prepared”, and consecutive “Top Instructor”, awards.
He has served as the Head Coach at Dwyer High School, Bama Cheer Xtreme, and Jupiter Elite. He also works as the choreographer and team trainer for Coconut Creek Cheerleading, a recreational cheer program in Coconut Creek, Florida. He currently is the Cheerleading Program Director for Allegiance Athletics, an all-star cheerleading and gymnastics program in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Before coaching, he cheered on successful all-star teams such as TNT All Stars, High Fly All Stars, Palm Beach Lightning, and Top Gun All Stars, where he is still currently a proud competitive athlete. Last year, Top Gun All Stars (open 4) awarded him the team’s “Most Valuable Player”.
He also spent time as a collegiate cheerleader at Georgia State University, The University of West Georgia, and The University of Alabama (club), which he was the Founder and Head Coach of for three years.
As a choreographer, Gerard has worked with all ages, arenas, and skill levels. He currently choreographs for the Seminole Ridge Dance Team, Forrest Hill High School Cheer, Allegiance Athletics (levels 1-4), and Coconut Creek Cheer, to name a few. In 2017, Nfinity Shoes named Coach Gerard one of the “hardest working coaches” and awarded him the “Regent Champ” award.
Outside of cheer and dance, Gerard runs a non-profit organization called 360PURPOSE, that works to help people realize and achieve their highest calling.
