Coaching Accomplishments
Joined FAU’s staff in 1999 as an initial member…unit has been a strength of the program…been afforded the opportunity of two-deep almost every game.
Works with a position he coached and for a head coach he played under; therefore, he can tend direct experience to his unit…will have the opportunity to see the players he began with develop into juniors both in size and maturity.
Playing Career
Played four seasons at the University of Louisville…served as a team captain in 1991…ended playing career 10th in all-time sacks and was named the team’s Most Valuable Defensive lineman…played in the 1991 Fiesta bowl that aw Louisville win one of its most memorable games, a 34-7 victory over Alabama…as a senior: 57 tackles (40 solo)….as a junior: 23 tackles (18 solo)…as a sophomore: credited with 33 tackles…as a freshman: earned 26 tackles in limited action (13 solo).
High School
Attended St. Martin DePorres High School…team finished 9-4 and 8-4 his junior and senior seasons, respectively…caught 20 passes for six TDs as a junior and rushed for six TDs as a junior and rushed for 758 yards as a senior, scoring nine TDs…scored a 65-yard TD in the state playoffs.
Other Experience
Prior to rejoining Coach Schnellenberger and returning to football, Mills was a Treatment Specialist at Boysville of Michigan, a youth detention center, from 1996 to 1997. He then worked for the Federal Bureau of Prisons at the Federal Correctional Institution in Milan and in a similar position in Atlanta.
