Upcoming Event: Football at FIU on September 13, 2025 at 6 p.m.

Vandevere officially joined Florida Atlantic University’s football staff as an assistant coach, in February of 2002, and he concentrates his efforts with the tight ends.
While Vandevere was new to the coaching staff, he was very familiar with the individual players, the coaches and the system. Vandevere came to FAU in January of 2001 as an intern working towards his master’s degree in Athletic Management. As a graduate assistant, he rolled up his sleeves to assist in the daunting task of moving the offices from the research park to the State of the Art Oxley Center. With the job complete, he returned to shirt and tie and began assisting in all phases of office management. As the weather shifted towards Spring, so did his responsibilities. He became the video production chief for Spring Drills.
Needless to say, he is well rounded and enthused about college football, a sport he has played and loved his entire life. That diversity and quest to help in every aspect of the game has brought him to his next transition, assistant coach.
During the inaugural season, Vandevere assisted with the LRS Sports software, the equipment used to breakdown the practice and game film. He helped with the play books, both offensive and defensive and was responsible for weekly opponent scout reports as well as assisting with the team’s preparation. He participated in game-day preparation and during the game, was responsible for charting offensive plays and worked hand-in-hand with Larry Seiple, the offensive coordinator, in the booth.
Prior to FAU (June 1999-December 2000), Vandevere served as an assistant coach for both the varsity and the freshman Manheim Township High School team, primarily working with quarterbacks and defensive backs. He assisted in game-day and practice planning and supervised the weight room workouts. He also worked for Stevens Tech Junior College as an assistant coach, in the fall of 1998. While at Stevens Tech, Vandevere helped to develop the wide receivers and the tight ends, assisted with the play books and supervised study hall for all student athletes.
Vandevere earned his Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a minor in Athletic Coaching, in May of 1999 from Millersville University. He played two seasons as the team’s quarterback. Prior to Millersville, he attended Valley Forge Military Junior College where he was the starting quarterback for the 94-95 seasons and set the touchdown/interception ratio record (24/3), during his senior campaign.
He obtained his prep experience at Haverford High School where he was a four-year starting quarterback for both Varsity and JV. As a senior he served as the team’s captain and was named the Offensive MVP at season’s end. He was also a Hero Bowl Team member his senior year.
