Professional Career

Selected in the 8thth round of the 1988 draft by Kansas City…a member of two Super Bowl Champion teams with the Dallas Cowboys in 1991 and 1992…spent his first three seasons as a Kansas City Chief…played with the likes of Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, and Michael Irvin…was on the 1992 Cowboys’ team that went 13-3 in the regular season and defeated Buffalo 52-17 in the Super Bowl…also on 1993 team that went 12-4 and went on to defeat Buffalo 30-13 in the Super Bowl…following his pro career Roberts joined the business world as a part owner in a Dallas restaurant…his competitive nature and work ethic transformed the establishment into a profit maker.
Collegiate Career
A member of two national championship teams with the University of Miami…the first was in 1983 under Coach Schnellenberger, also was part of the Hurricanes’ 1987 national championship team…Roberts and Charles Henry teamed as the country’s best two tight ends and much of UM’s success can be attributed to Roberts’ ability to block…he also used 4.85 forty speed to his best advantage…as a junior he averaged 10.5 yards per catch…most impressive collegiate game was before a packed Orange Bowl crowd versus Oklahoma, two big receptions, one for a TD to take the lead for good, the second got the canes out of poor field position late in the third quarter…ended collegiate career with a double-digit yards per reception average.
High School
Played at South Plantation High School, under the direction of Sylvester Robinson, where he earned Second Team All-State and All-City honors as a senior…team earned city championship after his junior and seasons…Roberts also earned three varsity letters in baseball as a catcher and first baseman…named second team All-State as a senior.
“Home Sweet Home”
Assisted his mother, Mercedes, with her dream to build a hoe for handicapped people, with Don’s syndrome and other disabilities…used money from his Dallas Cowboys contract to purchase a home for his mother called “Home Sweet Home”…takes an active role in continuing his mother’s dream.
