BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic softball team fell to UAB by a score of 5-3 on Saturday afternoon.

Despite the series-closing loss, the Owls (33-19, 14-13) still took two games versus the Blazers and set a single series home attendance record in the process, with 2,446 fans visiting Joan Joyce Field at FAU Softball Stadium over the past three days.

Following the game, 10 seniors: Autumn Courtney, Yani Guzman, Kylie Hammonds, Madison Inscoe, Ainsley Lambert, Jaden Martinez, Jesiana Mora, McKenna Mulholland, Cameryn Orland, and Chloe Yeatts were honored for their contributions to the program.

THE BEGINNING
For the fourth straight game, sophomore outfielder Bella Foran reached base in the leadoff spot, beating out a play at first base for a single for the game's first hit.

UAB put the Owls behind early in the top of the second, loading the bases after an error and launching a grand slam to go up 4-0.

THE TURNING POINT
Inscoe relieved Courtney in the circle after two innings and pitched two clean innings, not allowing a run.

FAU got on the board in the bottom of the fourth. Mora hit a leadoff single and later scored on a sacrifice fly RBI by Guzman.

THE FINISH
The Blazers added an insurance run at the top of the sixth on an RBI single to grow the lead to 5-1.

With one last chance to rally in the bottom of the seventh, the Owls were close to pulling off a remarkable comeback. An Inscoe hit and walk by sophomore Lily Holtje was followed by a two-RBI base hit from Hammonds.

NOTES/NOTABLE

Hammonds has reached base in nine straight games.
Guzman has recorded 30 RBI this season, the fourth Owl to do so on the year.
Freshman Lily Lowery scored as a pinch runner for the second game in a row.
Inscoe did not allow a run in four out of her nine pitching appearances during American Conference play.

UP NEXT
The 2026 American Conference Tournament awaits in Greenville, N.C. Florida Atlantic is currently in fourth place in the standings, with its official seeding dependent on the results of Sunday's league slate.
