Martinez Garners Weekly Honorable Mention

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic baseball second baseman John Martinez has been named an American Conference weekly honorable mention. This is the third consecutive week the Owls have been represented among the weekly honorable mentions (Nick Romano, Garrett Grant).
Martinez is coming off a four-game stretch where he went 8-for-17 at the plate with two doubles and three RBI. The redshirt sophomore delivered the walk-off, two-RBI single in Friday's dramatic 10-9, 11-inning victory over UMBC. He had three hits in Sunday's series finale, another walk-off victory for the Owls. Martinez leads the Owls in hits, RBI, doubles, and total bases through the first 20 games of the season.
WHAT'S NEXT
After a midweek matchup with FGCU on Tuesday night, the Owls begin American Conference play on Friday against UTSA. First pitch at the FAU Baseball Stadium is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. on ESPN+.
