POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – The No. 13-ranked Florida Atlantic beach volleyball team dropped two hard-fought battles on day one of the Florida Atlantic Beach Invitational, falling against No. 7 Florida State, 4-1, and No. 6 TCU, 3-2, in Pompano Beach, Florida.

Florida Atlantic moves to 10-4 overall, while Florida State improves to 12-1 overall and TCU improves to 11-1 on the season.

Florida State jumped out to a 3-0 lead, taking courts five and court one, before clinching the match with a court three win. Olivia Strandberg and Ava Koehl got the Sandy Owls on the board, earning a straight-set sweep against FSU's 2s pair, 22-20, 21-18. However, the Seminoles took the final match on court four to close out the contest, 4-1.

TCU scored first, taking a two-set win on court five. The Owls tied things up at 1-1 after Denisse Morgenstern and Shantel Starling earned their first win of the day, sweeping the Horned Frogs' top pair, 21-19, 22-20, on court one. TCU retook the lead 2-1 after taking a three-set battle after rallying from a third-set deficit to win court three. FAU tied things up once more at two-all as Strandberg and Koehl secured their second win of the day with another straight-set sweep at the 2s, 21-19, 21-16. The Horned Frogs avoided the upset, taking the final win on court four to close out the 3-2 battle.
