No. 13 Florida Atlantic Splits Against No. 3 USC, Tampa

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – The No. 13-ranked Florida Atlantic beach volleyball team closed out play in the Florida Atlantic Beach Invitational on Sunday, falling 4-0 against No. 3 USC, before earning a 4-0 win against Tampa in Pompano Beach.
Florida Atlantic moves to 11-5 this season, while USC improves to 16-3 overall and Tampa falls to 7-8 overall.
The Sandy Owls dropped a 4-0 battle against No. 3 USC to open the day. The Trojans took wins on courts one, five, three, and two, before court four was abandoned as the teams switched to playing to completion to avoid expected inclement weather.
FAU finished the weekend with a 4-0 sweep over the Tampa Spartans. The Owls opened the match with a straight-set win on court two, as Olivia Strandberg and Ava Koehl won 21-19, 21-12. Klaire VanDeusen and Mia Scanlon gave the Owls the 2-0 lead, earning another straight-set win at the 3s, 21-19, 22-20. Denisse Morgenstern and Shantel Starling clinched the match for the Owls on court one, earning a 21-19, 21-18 straight-set win. Reese Edwards and Kendall Mignerey closed out the 4-0 win with the Owls' fourth straight-set win at the 4s over the Spartans, 21-11, 21-17.
