Five Sandy Owls Named to 2025-26 CSC Academic All-District Team

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic beach volleyball's Denisse Morgenstern, Olivia Strandberg, Klaire VanDeusen, Kendall Mignerey, and Mia Scanlon were named to the 2025-26 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team on Tuesday.
The recognition marks the second career honors for Mignerey and VanDeusen and the first for Morgenstern, Strandberg, and Scanlon.
The 2025-26 Academic All-District Men's and Women's At-Large teams, selected by the College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To be eligible, a student-athlete must hold a 3.50 cumulative GPA or better, in addition to being a key contributor on the court.
Morgenstern, a native of Asunción, Paraguay, was named to the CUSA Preseason All-Conference Team and finished the 2026 season with an 18-17 record, earning Conference USA All-Conference First Team honors. She produced a season-best 17-16 record on court one, in addition to finishing 1-1 on court two. As a pair, Morgenstern finished with a season-best record of 18-16 alongside teammate Shantel Starling, posting a team and season-best 17-15 record on court one. She earned ranked wins against No. 6 TCU, No. 19 Washington, and defeated North Florida three times, at No. 16 and twice at No. 17. Morgenstern garnered CUSA Pair of the Week honors on April 21 after an unbeaten 4-0 weekend at the Alki Beach Invitational, earning three straight-set sweeps and one three-set win at the 1s against Oregon, No. 19 Washington, Portland, and RV Boise State. During the CUSA Championship, Morgenstern secured wins against No. 8-seed Tarleton State and No. 4-seed South Florida. She also earned CUSA Commissioner's Academic Medal and Honor Roll honors.
Strandberg, from Chelan, Washington, finished second on the team with a 20-15 record, including a season-best 16-12 record on court two and a 4-1 record on court three. The CUSA All-Tournament Team honoree posted a team-second-best 20-15 pair record, playing alongside Ava Koehl. Strandberg finished 3-1 during the CUSA Championship, sweeping No. 8-seed Tarleton State and No. 3-seed FIU, and earning a three-set win over No. 2-seed UAB. She earned ranked wins against No. 6 TCU, No. 7 Florida State, and No. 16 & No. 17 North Florida. Strandberg earned CUSA Pair of the Week honors on March 17 after going 3-1 during the Florida Atlantic Beach Invitational, earning wins over No. 7 Florida State, No. 6 TCU, and Tampa. Academically, Strandberg was named to the CUSA All-Academic Team, in addition to earning CUSA Commissioner's Academic Medal and Honor Roll selections.
VanDeusen, a Sunshine State native from Saint Augustine, Florida, tied for a team-best 21-16 record this past season, including a season-best 15-14 record on court three, while also finishing 6-2 on court four. As a pair, VanDeusen produced a team-leading 21-16 record alongside Scanlon. She earned ranked wins against No. 1 UCLA, No. 15 Stetson, and defeated No. 17 North Florida twice. During the CUSA Championship, VanDeusen earned wins against No. 8-seed Tarleton State and No. 4-seed South Florida. VanDeusen earned a league-leading two CUSA Pair of the Week honors on March 10 and April 14. Academically, she earned CUSA All-Academic Team recognition, as well as CUSA Commissioner's Academic Medal and Honor Roll honors.
Mignerey, from Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, was named to the CUSA Preseason All-Conference Team and finished the 2026 season with 13 wins, including a season-best eight wins on court four, earning CUSA All-Tournament Team honors. She produced a season-best 10 wins, pairing with Reese Edwards, and finished 3-1 alongside Shayna Wolf. Mignerey earned a pair of ranked wins against North Florida, as No. 16, and as No. 17. In the CUSA Championship, Mignerey earned wins against No. 2-seed UAB, No. 3-seed FIU, and No. 4-seed South Florida.
Scanlon, a native of Chesterfield, Missouri, tied for a team-best 21-16 record in 2026, including a season-best 15-14 record on court three and with a 6-2 record on court four. She produced a team-leading 21-16 pair record alongside VanDeusen. Scanlon earned a league-best two CUSA Pair of the Week honors on Match 10 and April 14. She earned ranked wins against No. 1 UCLA, No. 15 Stetson, and defeated No. 17 North Florida twice.
