No. 14 Owls Sweep Day Two of Seminole Beach Bash

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 14 Florida Atlantic Owls swept the final day of the Seminole Beach Bash, earning a pair of 4-1 wins versus No. 16 North Florida and FGCU on Saturday.
Florida Atlantic improved to 7-1, while North Florida dropped to 4-3 and FGCU fell to 4-4 on the season.
Against the Ospreys, Denisse Morgenstern and Shantel Starling got things started for the Owls, earning a 21-18, 21-17 straight-set win on court one. Reese Edwards and Kendall Mignerey extended the Owls' lead to 2-0, earning a three-set win at the 3s, 21-19, 16-21, 17-15. Cameron Knifton and Allison Spittal clinched the dual win for FAU, earning a three-set comeback win on court five, 21-23, 21-13, 15-11. Ava Koehl and Olivia Strandberg secured the Owls' fourth point, rallying for a three-set win at the 2s, 19-21, 21-16, 15-8. North Florida closed out the 4-1 match, taking its sole win on court four.
In the playoffs against FGCU, Knifton and Spittal put FAU in front first, claiming a dominant straight-set win at the 5s, 21-12, 21-15. The Eagles tied the dual at 1-1 after taking a two-set win on court one. Edwards and Mignerey put the Owls back in front 2-1, as the duo claimed their second win of the day in a three-set comeback win on court three, 10-21, 21-17, 15-10. Strandberg and Koehl earned their first match-clinching win of the season, claiming a three-setter at the 2s, 21-14, 11-21, 15-10. Scanlon and VanDeusen closed out the Owls' 4-1 win, rallying to claim a three-set victory on court four, 12-21, 21-19, 15-10.
