Countdown to Kickoff: Game 6 at Army

WEST POINT, N.Y. — American Conference play resumes for Florida Atlantic football on Saturday, Oct. 17, traveling to face Army.
Kickoff is set for noon, with the game televised nationally on CBS Sports Network and able to be listened to on the Florida Atlantic Sports Network (FOX Sports 640 locally).
The Owls (4-1, 1-0) are coming off a bye week, are on a four-game winning streak, longest since 2020, and a 3-1 non-conference record, the best in program history. They will take on the Black Knights (3-2, 2-1) for the second time in program history and for the first time on the road.
Florida Atlantic has been exceptional in all three phases of the game and have scored 186 points, most through the first five games of a season in school history. The Owls have played turnover-free football for four consecutive games, never done before in team history, and are currently No. 12 nationwide with a +1.0 turnover margin.
Offensively, graduate QB Caden Veltkamp continues his command of the offense with 12 passing touchdowns. His 25.6 completions per game rank No. 3 nationally while his 73.1% completion percentage is No. 7 among FBS passers.
His top two targets are both members of the Biletnikoff Award Watch List: senior WR Kelby Valsin and fifth-year Easton Messer. Valsin leads the American in receptions per game (8.0, No. 3 nationally), receiving yards (512, No. 18) and touchdowns (five, No. 15) while Messer has hauled in 6.4 receptions per game for 445 yards and three touchdowns.
On the defensive end, the team has limited opponents to under 20 points in three consecutive outings for the first time since the '20 campaign and have conceded just three second-half points during that span.
Special teams have made an impact with a team-record three return touchdowns. Two have come in one game via kick returns by Leonard Farrow, tying the FBS single-game record, while Messer has added a 73-yard punt return.
