WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Florida Atlantic's men's and women's cross country teams kicked off the 2025 season at the Keiser Invitational.
Both teams ran a 5k on Friday morning. The women's team placed first out of six teams, while the men's team placed third out of eight teams.
It was a great day for the Owls as senior
Anabell Reumann placed third overall and came in first for Florida Atlantic with a time of 18:11.9. Her time marks her fastest 5k in her collegiate career. On the men's side, junior
Noah Highsmith ran his fastest 5k of his career, registering a 16:18.8 on the day.
QUICK HITS
Women (5K)
- Florida Atlantic took first place with 27 points on the day. The average time for FAU was 18:20.
- Six Owls (Reumann, Elyssa Toal, Rosa ten Berg, Isabel O'Brien, Madison Brown, and Leah Helms) finished within the top ten.
- O'Brien ran an 18:24.6 for her fastest 5k in her career, finishing seventh overall.
- Transfer Madison Brown ran in her first race in an FAU jersey, finishing eighth overall with a time of 18:32.6.
- The Owls as a collective improved for their total time in the first race of the season.
- FAU had a total of nine representatives at the Keiser Invitational.
- Morgan Pennington was the only freshman to run for the Owls today. She recorded a 19:58.0 in her first collegiate 5k.
Men (5k)
- Highsmith was the only Owl to finish in the top ten for the men.
- Freshmen Nazayer Franco and Nate Webb made their collegiate debut, finishing 13th and 17th.
- Junior Luke Gaudet returned to the team and recorded a 16:23.4 in his first race in a year. He set a new personal best.
- In his second year, Donovan Petty set a new personal best with a 16:23.4.
