JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic women's soccer team ended the night with a 3-2 victory in Jacksonville on Thursday evening.
The Owls (2-4-1) improved their record as they pick up the first road win of the season, while the Dolphins (2-3-0) fought in the first half to tie the match but fell short in the full 90 minutes.
For the fourth match in a row, FAU scored first to take the momentum. In the first 45 seconds, sophomore
Hailey Santiago connected with the back of the net for her second goal of the season to take the lead (1-0) for Florida Atlantic. Forward
Sloane Young recorded her third goal of the season to extend the lead for FAU. This marks her career-high for goals in a season. Senior
Kayla Siddiqi recorded her first assist of her career in the goal by Young. Jacksonville came back to tie it up with five minutes left in the first half. At the end of the first 45 minutes, the match was 2-2.
For the second time this season, transfer
Megan Hogate started in goal for the Owls. Tonight,
Michelle Horan led the Owls with four shots on goal. Out of her four shots on goal, one connected low left in the 58th minute of the match to take the lead again on the night. Horan's goal was her first of the season to add to her career total (4).
With the FAU win, at the end of the 90 minutes, Hogate recorded her first win of her career.

The Owls will return home to face No. 7 Florida State on Sunday afternoon for the first home match of the month of September. Kickoff is set for noon on ESPN+. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to snag a limited edition players card while supplies last.
