BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic's women's soccer ended the night in a 2-2 draw against Tulsa on Thursday evening.
The Owls (3-7-2, 0-2-1) faced the Golden Hurricane of Tulsa (6-3-3, 1-1-1) in a Thursday night matchup in Paradise. The series record moves to 0-1-2.
Sophomore
Ashley Small started in her second conference game of the season. The Owls registered four shots in the first half. All four of the shots for Florida Atlantic were on goal. The first 45 minutes of the match remained scoreless. All four shots came from different players (
Lida Dodge,
Michelle Horan,
Isabel Bostic, and
Hailey Santiago).
In the second half, senior
Michelle Horan crossed from the right corner of the pitch to
Sloane Young for a header to take the lead in the 56th minute. Young leads the Owls with six goals this season for a new career high. In the assists category, Horan leads FAU with six assists on the season. She is currently ranked 28th in the nation and second in the American with an assist in every conference match thus far. In the last four games, Horan has totaled six assists.
After a review in favor of the Owls, senior
Morgan McDonald found
Madison Micioni to extend the lead 2-0 for her first assist of the season. The Golden Hurricane scored back-to-back goals in the 87th minute to tie the game 2-2 with less than five minutes to go. Micioni leads the Owls in goals in conference games.
Both teams ended the night in double figures in shots. FAU registered 12 while Tulsa recorded 15. FAU recorded a season-high nine shots on goal.
