BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic's women's soccer team finished non-conference play with a 4-0 win over North Dakota State on Sunday evening at FAU Soccer Stadium.
The Owls (3-6-1) took on the Bison (4-5-0) and scored two goals in each half on the way to the shutout victory.
Florida Atlantic got on the scoreboard early when a pass from
Michelle Horan resulted in a goal by sophomore
Hailey Santiago for her third of the season. In the 22nd minute of the match, Horan found
Sloane Young to extend the lead to 2-0. At the end of the first 45 minutes, FAU totaled five shots, three of them on goal, and three saves.
Madison Micioni got things started in the second half as she netted one in from Young for the third goal of the night. In the 65th minute, Young recorded her second goal of the game, assisted by Horan, to improve the score to 4-0.
Young remains the leading goal scorer for the Owls with four on the season for a new career high for goals. With each goal assisted on the night, Horan leads with five assists on the season, improving her career total to 11. Goalkeeper
Megan Hogate recorded the first shutout of her career with four saves. She improved her record to 2-1 on the season thus far. To close out the night in the last 11 minutes, redshirt freshman
Nikki Holland made her collegiate debut and recorded her first save to maintain a clean sheet for the Owls.
