ORLANDO, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic women's soccer team fell short to UCF by a score of 3-1 in its first road contest of the 2025 season on Sunday evening.
The 26th meeting in program history between the Owls (0-1-1) and the Knights (2-0-0) was delayed three hours due to weather, with the match finally kicking off at 9:15 p.m.. In the first 20 minutes, the sheet remained clean thanks to great defense displayed by the Owls.
In the first half, goalkeeper
Ashley Small registered six saves to record a new career high in the fifth start of her career. The sophomore finished the night with nine saves.
With five minutes left in the match, graduate
Sloane Young contacted with the back of the net to put the Owls on the board. Redshirt sophomore
Sydney Neira recorded her first assist in a FAU uniform. Young, with the only shot on goal for the night, scored the fifth goal of her career and her first of the season.
For the Owls, every available player recorded minutes on the pitch. Both
Isabel Bostic and
Lisa Furéh logged their first start of their career, while freshman
Jada Graham registered eight minutes in her freshman debut. Neira, with an assist on the night, the first Owl to do so this season, remained on the pitch for the entire match.
