BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic softball has hired Shannon Doherty to serve as Director of Player Development, announced by Head Coach
Jordan Clark on Monday.
Doherty, originally from Coral Springs, Florida, arrives to Paradise after six seasons with UCF, first as a five-year decorated player followed by a graduate assistantship in 2025..
With Doherty as a member of the coaching staff in 2025, the Knights were selected to the NCAA Austin Regional following a 35-24-1 campaign, falling to Texas, the eventual national champion.
Doherty was a UCF student-athlete during its transition from the American Athletic Conference to the Big 12 and earned two all-conference selections. She can be found all over the Knights' record book in many statistical categories including defensive putouts (1,371, second), on-base percentage (.422, third), home runs (35, third), RBI (161, third), fielding percentage (.994, third), slugging percentage (.499, sixth), runs scored (119, ninth), and total hits (212, ninth).
Doherty now joins the Florida Atlantic staff under Clark coming off back-to-back American Athletic Conference regular season champions and consecutive NCAA Regional appearances.
