GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The
Florida Atlantic women's track & field team completed the first day of the annual Pepsi Florida Relays hosted by Florida on Friday evening.
The Owls started the afternoon with the 1500-meter, followed by the 400-meter hurdles and 3000-meter steeplechase. FAU completed the day with
Leah Helms competing in the 5000-meter.
- Junior Kayla Groppe represented the Owls in the 1500-meter, finishing with a 4:53.05 on the day.
- Laura Kuhn was one of the 40 runners to compete in the 400-meter hurdles.
- Another great performance from freshman Astrid Baunge as she etched herself in the record book after recording an 11:10.08 in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Baunge is now ranked No. 7 in program history.
- To close out the evening, Helms finished the 5000-meter with an 18:22.95 for a season's best.
Florida Atlantic will continue competition in Gainesville for the second and final day of the Pepsi Florida Relays on Saturday.
