TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 15 Florida Atlantic beach volleyball team closed out play at the FSU Unconquered Invitational on Saturday, going 1-2 with a 3-2 win over South Florida, but falling 4-1 against No. 8 Texas and 5-0 against No. 5 Florida State.

Florida Atlantic moves to 14-11 overall and 2-1 in CUSA play, while Florida State improved to 22-6 and Texas improved to 22-8.

The Sandy Owls struggled in their opening match of the day, falling 5-0 against No. 5 Florida State. In their second match, the Sandy Owls fell 4-1 against No. 8 Texas, but Kendall Mignerey and Reese Edwards prevented the sweep by claiming a comeback win on court five, 16-21, 21-15, 15-12, to close out the contest.

Florida Atlantic bounced back in its FSU Unconquered Invitational finale, earning its first win over South Florida, 3-2. Ashleigh Adams and Marketa Svozilova secured the Sandy Owls' first point at the No. 1 position, sweeping the Bulls 21-12, 21-16. Kate McLaughlin and Julie Honzovicova extended FAU's lead to 2-0 with a straight-set win on court two, 21-19, 21-13. South Florida closed the deficit to one after winning on court five, but the Sandy Owls' court four pair of Kendall Mignerey and Reese Edwards clinched the match with a three-set win, 21-19, 18-21, 15-12. The Bulls won the final point on court three to close out the 3-2 contest.
