BOCA RATON Fla. – No. 68 Florida Atlantic men's tennis team will play its final regular season match of the 2024-25 season at 6 p.m. EDT. on Friday, April 4 when the team travels to Memphis, Tennessee to face the Memphis Tigers.
The Owls moved up two spots in this week's ITA National Rankings while senior captain John Bernard climbed eight spots and is currently ranked No. 117. Bernard and the otherwise young Owls have seen a steady improvement as the season has progressed and are playing their best tennis at the best time of the year with the American Athletic Conference Championship scheduled for April 17 through 20, which will also be played at Memphis.
Three Owls will have the opportunity break the double-digit dual match win plateau with sophomores Mark Havlicek (9-7), and Simon Myslivec (9-3) and freshman Jan Kusy (9-8) primed for the opportunity. The first and only player to do so this season is freshman Segundo Goity Zapico who will carry an 11-7 record into his final regular-season match.
But, play will begin with doubles where freshman Marek Pazdera holds an 11-3 dual match record and fellow freshman Lucca Pignaton and Halvicek are not far behind records of 9-6 and 9-7, respectively.
The two teams have previously met twice with the all-time series tied at 1-1. Memphis captured the last meeting back on April 3, 2011 by a 4-1 score.
NEXT UP
The Owls will make use of nearly a two-week break between the Memphis match and returning the Memphis for the 2025 American Athletic Conference Championship scheduled for April 17-20.
