Owls Head Back to North Carolina for Showdown with Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Florida Atlantic baseball heads back to the state of North Carolina for the second time in the month of April to start a three-game weekend series with Charlotte on Friday at noon on ESPN+. Saturday's first pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m., and Sunday's finale is set for 1 p.m. The Owls (27-13) and the 49ers (23-17) enter the weekend with 9-6 records in the American Athletic Conference.

OWLS IN REVIEW

Tuesday's 17-2 defeat at the hands of UCF was the first time this season the Owls have lost a game by more than four runs.
John Schroeder homered for the 10th time this season to tie Marshall Lipsey for the team lead.
Sophomore starter Trey Beard is second in Division I with 92 strikeouts.
Beard is on the midseason watch list for National Pitcher of the Year and the Golden Spikes Award.
Sophomore closer MJ Bollinger is on the midseason watch list for the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award as the nation's top reliever.
Brando Leroux is on the midseason watch list for the Brooks Wallace Award as the nation's top shortstop.

THE OPPONENT

Charlotte won two straight games against Kennesaw State on Tuesday and USF last Saturday.
The 49ers had lost four straight before Saturday.
Projected Friday starter Blake Gillespie is second to Beard in the AAC with 87 strikeouts.

Florida Atlantic leads the all-time series with Charlotte 23-12.
The Owls have taken two of three from CLT in each of the last two season series.
