BOCA RATON, Fla. – The No. 22 Florida Atlantic softball team fell to North Texas by a score of 9-1 on Saturday afternoon.
With the run-rule loss, the Owls (34-9, 13-4) drop an American Athletic Conference series after winning eight straight dating back to 2024, bookending it with matchups against the Mean Green (30-13, 12-5).
Senior pitcher Gabby Sacco made the start and falls to 6-2 on the season.
After two innings of Sacco, FAU turned to the bullpen with junior Jaden Martinez, senior Ainsley Lambert, and junior Kelsey Endress who made her first appearance in AAC play. North Texas piled on three more runs in the second and an additional one in the third before a fourth-inning grand slam grew the lead to 9-0.
The Owls found the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth. A double from junior third baseman Jesiana Mora, her second hit of the day, put her on base and allowed her to capitalize off a Mean Green error for a run to avoid the shutout.
