SAN ANTONIO – Behind four home runs in the final two innings, the No. 22 Florida Atlantic softball team returned to the win column with a 13-0 run-rule victory against UTSA on Friday evening.

The Owls (30-5, 9-1) needed just five innings of work to defeat the Roadrunners (14-17, 2-8) in the series opener, with 10 runs coming in the top of the fourth and fifth. Junior third baseman
Jesiana Mora led the way on a career
-night at the plate with the first multi-home run outing of her career and five RBI.

Junior pitcher
Autumn Courtney made the start in the circle and allowed just one hit in her 50th career victory, moving to 14-1 on the season.

Courtney delivered three strikeouts in the first two innings and held the Roadrunners hitless.

In the top of the second, back-to-back walks, followed by redshirt sophomore outfielder
Kylie Hammonds getting hit by a pitch, loaded the bases. With the next batter at the plate, the Owls capitalized on a passed ball and a throwing error to score all three in one sequence.

After a scoreless third, FAU piled on six runs in the top of the fourth.

An error and a single put two runners on base to begin the inning before sophomore shortstop
Kiley Channell fired off a double that hit the left field wall to add a run. Freshman second baseman
Destiny Johns singled and brought home another runner, upping the score to 5-0.

The Owls loaded the bases for the second time in the game with a walk from junior catcher
Chloe Yeatts. Stepping up to the plate, Mora launched a no-doubt shot to right-center field, the first grand slam of her career, for the 9-0 lead.

After two strikeouts from Courtney for a one, two, three inning on defense, the Owls returned to the plate in the top of the fifth.

Johns opened scoring in their final series of at-bats with a two-run blast to right center, putting FAU in double digits. Mora then recorded her second homer of the night, this time a solo shot. The Owls went back-to-back with another home run, their third in four batters, to complete the inning hat trick as pinch hitter
Bella Cimino hit her second of the season for the 13th run.

Roadrunner batters were quickly retired in the bottom of the fifth with a diving catch from freshman outfielder
Bella Foran to close the game.
