No. 65 Owls Celebrate Seniors with Tulane Win
3/23/2025 6:43:00 PM | Men's Tennis
BOCA RATON, Fla. – The No. 65 Florida Atlantic men's tennis team celebrated seniors John Bernard and Jiri Jenicek prior to a 6-1 dominant performance over Tulane at the Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.
The 6-1 victory was the seventh in a row for the Owls who move to 9-7 on the year while Tulane falls to 5-12.
The bottom of the order proved strong in both doubles and singles play. FAU doubles courts two and three were credited with earning the match's first point. Simon Myslivec and Marek Pazdera captured courts five and six, respectively, both with straight set 6-2, 6-2 wins.
With FAU leading 3-0, it is only appropriate that senior captain John Bernard clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-4 win on court one. The two teams played out the singles matches, allowing FAU to add to the score courtesy of Mark Havlicek and Segundo Goity Zapico victories.
"Our men looked pretty solid across the board. We are looking more and more confident out there. Beating a conference team is always a tough task but our team was ready to go. Shout out to our seniors on their last home match. They have left it all out there for this program and I couldn't be more proud of the many things they have accomplished. I'm excited to see how they continue to develop. I am confident they will be extremely successful in whatever they do."
