KNOXVILLE, Tenn./DALLAS – The Florida Atlantic men's and women's swimming & diving teams completed day one of their split conference championships on Wednesday night with conference champions being crowned for the Owls.
On the men's side, the Owls earned multiple medals on night one including two Owls being crowned ASUN conference champs. At the end of night one, Florida Atlantic currently ranks second out of five teams with 243 points and are within striking distance of the top spot.
For the women, the championships got started with a fifth place finish in the team diving event and finished the night with 98 points.
Men
- The Owls started off hot with a conference champion in Daniel Laureyssens in the 500 free (4:20.72)
- The 500 free also included freshman James Shevchenko taking home silver with Timo Paisley and Gianni Carlino also having strong finishes in the A-Final.
- In the 200 IM Nick Shaffer finished fourth in the A-Final in a time of 1:48.22
- The 200 IM B-Final the Owls took the top four spots led by Luke Beals
- Florida Atlantic earned another medal this time in the 200 medley relay. The team of Peyton Ming, Jayden Repak, Rush Clark and Logan Thornsberry took home bronze (1:27.26)
- The night concluded with the Owls going 1-2-3-4 in the men's 3m diving.In his ASUN debut, freshman Isac Faxius was crowned conference champion after his total score of 298.90.
Women
- Night one of AAC competition saw just three events taking place, all finals
- In the 200 medley relay, the team of Aura Vilarrasa, Ludo Pavia, Dolores Margni, and Izzy Jones took home sixth place in a time of 1:40.19
- In the team diving competition, the Owls walked away with a fifth-place finish
