BOCA RATON Fla. – Florida Atlantic men's tennis will travel to Texas for a pair of away games. The Owls will face Rice on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 12 pm at the George R. Brown Tennis Center in Houston, Texas. On Friday, Feb. 21 at 11 a.m., FAU will face UTSA in San Antonio, Texas. Both contests are versus American Athletic Conference opponents, however, they will not count towards a regular season standing.
FAU holds a 4-1 record against Rice. Their last matchup ended in a 4-3 FAU decision. Rice is coming into Thursday's match with a win against Texas Tech on Sunday, Feb. 16. Florida Atlantic also holds a 5-2 record over UTSA, and picked up a 4-1 win over the Roadrunners 4-1 in their last meeting. UTSA is coming off a 3-4 loss against Texas Tech on Friday, Feb. 14.
The Owls have yet to play a give-me match, with five of their seven matches decided by a 4-3 score. Most recently, FAU played a tough match versus perennial power UC Santa Barbara and fell 4-1. The duo of
Segundo Goity Zapico and
Lucca Pignaton won their doubles match up 6-2. Simon Myslevic won his singles match up in two sets (7-5, 6-1).
