BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic's men's basketball team kicked off year two with Head Coach 
John Jakus at the helm in a 110-68 exhibition victory over Florida Tech on Thursday evening at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena.
 
Five different players ended the night with double-digit scoring, which saw the Owls shoot 59.4% from the field while holding the opposing defense to 38.6%. FAU had 13 players see action.
                                                            
FIRST HALF
Redshirt sophomore 
Devin Williams got things started for the Owls with the first bucket of the night. The lead grew and FAU was up by ten points, 14-4, from a made jumper outside the paint by junior 
Kanaan Carlyle 14 minutes into the game. 
 
Two players (
Devin Vanterpool and Carlyle) recorded double-figures in the first 20 minutes, with 12 points each. FAU held a 20-point lead entering the locker room with a 54-34 advantage.
 
The Owls grew their 20-point lead, starting the second half with a steal by Carlyle that resulted in an alley-oop made by 
Xander Pintelon. 
With four minutes left, 
Amar Amkou hit back-to-back threes to make the game 98-58 in his first game dressing as an Owl. 
Liam Dayco-Green, 
Zion Sampaio, and 
Lachlan Smith saw action to close out the game. After a block by Amkou, Dayco-Green hit a contested three-pointer that improved the score 105-61.
 
 
	- Josiah Parker, Yohann Sissoko, Amkou, Vanterpool, and Carlyle each scored in double figures. Vanterpool led in scoring with 24.
- FAU scored 46 of its points in the paint, while Florida Tech scored 22.
- The Owls shot 54.2% from beyond the arc.
- Amkou tallied 17 points, shooting 100% from the field (five-for-five), beyond the arc (three-for-three), and at the line (four-for-four).  
- Carlyle had a night sharing the ball with a total of 6 assists. He ended the night with a +/- of +34.
- The Owls totaled 20 assists on the night.
- Florida Atlantic only had 10 turnovers to Florida Tech's 22, and were able to score 30 points off of them.
 
Florida Atlantic will start the regular season in Boca Raton as they host Boston College for the first time in program history on Monday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m., airing on ESPNU.
