BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic's football team prepare for a collision course with the Naval Academy, scheduled for this Saturday, Oct. 25 in Annapolis, Maryland. The game will kickoff at 3:30 p.m. and will air on CBS Sports Network.
FAU will enter the contest with a record of 3-4 and 2-2 in American Conference play. Navy sits atop the league standings with a 6-0 record and 4-0 in American play. While the two teams have previously met twice, with Navy holding the series at 2-0, it will be the first meeting as American Conference members.
While the two teams are both trying to secure the win, their methods could not be more different. Navy, who secured a bowl berth in their last outing, leads the American with 305.0 rushing yards and is 12th in passing offense with 167.1 yards, the Owls are first in passing with 317.4 yards through the air and 14th on the ground with an average of 106.7 rushing yards per game. All that said, the Owls will need to take advantage of every opportunity.
Defensively, redshirt junior LB and captain Tyler Stolsky has racked up double-digit tackles in back-to-back weeks, following up a 13-tackle performance against UAB with 11 against South Florida. He is the first Owl defender to do so since Jarron Morris in 2023.
Special teams are sure to come into play. Redshirt junior WR Jayshon Platt has contributed to Florida Atlantic via receiving (350 yards, two touchdowns), rushing (12 yards per-carry, one touchdown), and kick returning (417 yards), to rank 26th nationwide in all-purpose yards. Joining him in the top 50 is redshirt junior WR Easton Messer, ranked No. 42 with 755 yards between receiving, rushing, and punt return.
