BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Florida Atlantic men's and women's basketball teams took part in the 2025 American Tipoff on Sunday and Monday, Oct. 12-13, at the Birmingham Jefferson Conference.
Second-year Head Coach
John Jakus, along with junior guard
Kanaan Carlyle and redshirt junior
Niccolo Moretti, represented the men, while incoming women's Head Coach
LeAnn Freeland was joined by graduate guard
Destyne Jackson and sophomore guard
Erin Rodgers.
The Owls took part in fan events, as well as video and photoshoots, and conducted interviews on ESPN+.
Entering its third year in the American Conference, the men's team was ranked sixth in the preseason poll and boasts the conference's preseason Freshman of the Year in
Josiah Parker. The regular season begins on Monday, Nov. 3, against Boston College at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena. League play starts on December 31 with the Owls hosting UTSA.
The Coach Freeland era begins on Tuesday, Nov. 4, as the Owls take on Florida Memorial at the Elly. FAU will face North Texas at home to begin American Conference play on December 30.
