BOCA RATON, Fla. – Entering the 2025 season, Florida Atlantic softball team has been ranked No. 2 in the American Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, announced by the league office on Thursday morning.
The Owls are coming off their debut campaign in the AAC that saw them win the conference's regular season championship and ultimately qualify for the NCAA Regionals for the first time since 2016. Florida Atlantic raced through conference play with a 21-6 record before clinching the conference title on Joan Joyce Field in their final regular season series.
Florida Atlantic racked up postseason awards in 2024, with Head Coach Jordan Clark and her assistants winning Coaching Staff of the Year as well as the Rookie of the Year in Kiley Channell. In addition, six players were selected to the All-AAC team.
In 2025, the Owls will welcome back Channell, as well as all-conference members Ainsley Lambert and Jesiana Mora, in addition to 12 newcomers on the roster.
The softball season is quickly approaching, beginning on Feb. 6 when FAU hosts the Paradise Classic. This tournament, along with the following week's Joan Joyce Classic, will see the Owls take on Ole Miss, Kansas, Clemson, Minnesota, Villanova, Missouri State, Georgia State, NC State, Dartmouth, and Louisville.
Florida Atlantic's second season of AAC play will kick off in a series from Mar. 7 – 9 with the Owls hosting Wichita State, who ranks number one in the preseason poll.

QUOTE FROM COACH CLARK
"We are excited for the opportunity to defend our title in the AAC. Our team theme has been geared around racing. It is not about how you start, it is about who crosses the finish line first. Being voted in the top half of the conference is exciting, but at the end of the day, we are staying in our lane and hopefully going to pass teams along the way in the race to first place."TICKETS
