BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic baseball will meet Florida Gulf Coast on Tuesday in a non-conference matinee. The teams will reconvene in Fort Myers for the season's midweek finale next Tuesday.
The Owls salvaged the weekend series against UAB with a walk-off win on Sunday. Trailing 5-4 in the bottom of the ninth,
Carter Brady's one-out single with the bases loaded scored two to keep Florida Atlantic one game ahead of the Blazers in the AAC standings. Six conference games remain on the schedule starting with this weekend's trip to Rice.
Brady had three hits in three games but all three were impactful. He homered on Friday night to provide the Owls' only run of the game. On Sunday, he put his team on the board with an RBI single in the fourth inning. He then delivered again with the game-winning hit in the bottom of the ninth.
John Schroeder is hitting .333 (29-for-87) in non-conference games this season. The junior outfielder/catcher had two hits on Sunday and scored the game-winning run.
FGCU swept Jacksonville in A-SUN action over the weekend. The Eagles sit fourth in the conference standings at 16-9. Senior Ian Farrow, in second go-around with FGCU after transferring back from Miami, leads the way offensively with a .382 average, 13 home runs, and 35 RBI.
The Owls won three of four against FGCU last season. Florida Atlantic has won the last four against the Eagles at home dating back to 2021. The all-time series is tied 16-16.
The Owls head to Houston for a weekend series at Rice. The two sides are separated by just one game in the AAC standings.
