Owls Open Week with Monday Match

Let the Owls versus Owls Match Begin
BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic women's tennis team will play host to the Rice Owls at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, April 8th. While the match is between two American Athletic Conference members, it will count as a regular season non-conference matchup. It also pits the Owls versus Owls against each other for the fifth time in program history and the first time in 2024.
Florida Atlantic will enter the contest ranked No. 58 nationally and the holder of an 11-6 record. The match will be the third in four days for Rice, who enter the weekend with an 8-8 record. FAU last played at VCU on Sunday, Mar. 24th while Rice played at #29 Miami on Friday and versus #51 USF on Saturday all enroute to Monday's match versus #58 Florida Atlantic.
Florida Atlantic, who tallied an 11-match winning streak earlier this year, is led by freshman Panna Bartha. Bartha, who holds a 13-3 singles record and is 9-6 in doubles action. Both Millie-Mae Matthews and Victoria Gomez O'Hayon enter the contests with double-digit dual match wins with 12-3 and 11-5 overall records, respectively. Captain Amber McGinnis is 11-11 on the year and holds an 8-7 dual match mark. As a team, the Owls are winning dual doubles matches at a .575 clip. Matthews and Gomez O'Hayon lead the way with a 10-4 record, primarily on court #1.
Florida Atlantic will close out the regular-season with three matches in South Florida. Foloowing Monday's home match versus Rice, FAU will travel to No. 29 FIU on Saturday, April 13 for a 12 p.m. first serve and will close out the 2024 regular-season and home schedule with a Monday, Apr. 15 match versus WKU. This match is scheduled to start at 12:30 p.m. Prior to the match, the Owls will honor senior Amber McGinnis.

FAU will travel to Miami for a Saturday, Apr. 13 matchup with No. 29 FIU and will return home for their final home match of 2024 on Monday, Apr. 15 at 12:30 p.m.Â
