#45 Owls Take Care of Business

NEWARK, De. – The Florida Atlantic men's tennis team, ranked No. 45 nationally, downed No. 63 host Delaware 4-1 in the second of three scheduled road matches for the Owls leading up to the American Athletic Conference championships, which will be played next week in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The Owls earned the doubles point with wins on courts two and three and was then all business with victories on singles court one through three to secure the victory, but not before the Blue Hens tied the match at 1-1 with a court #5 win.
Mark Havlicek captured court #3 in straight sets at 6-3, 6-3. Juan Martin Jalif then got the Owls one win away with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-1) win on court #2 giving FAU a 3-1 lead. Senior Alberto Colas clinched the match at 4-1 with a three-set win on court #1 by a score of 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.
The remaining two courts were not finished, but those Owls will have a chance to close out their matches on Saturday when Florida Atlantic faces VCU in the final match before the AAC Championship.
With their fourth consecutive win, Florida Atlantic's record moves to 16-5.
